J. B. Blunk (1926, 2002) was an American artist and sculptor renowned for his monumental works carved directly from massive logs and driftwood, blending elements of sculpture, furniture, and functional art. Deeply influenced by his time in Japan studying ceramics and pottery under Kitaoji Rosanjin, Blunk developed a unique aesthetic that merged Japanese craft traditions with California counterculture sensibilities. His organic, large-scale sculptures and handcrafted objects are celebrated for their raw materiality and meditative presence.
