Ivan Pavlovich Pokhitonov (1850, 1923) was a Ukrainian-born Russian painter celebrated for his exquisitely detailed small-format landscapes, often executed on wood panels with remarkable precision. He spent much of his career in Belgium and France, becoming associated with the European artistic milieu while maintaining deep ties to Russian artistic traditions. His intimate, jewel-like plein air works earned him admiration from contemporaries including Ivan Turgenev and Leo Tolstoy.
