Giovanni Antonio Burrini was a Bolognese painter working in the Late-Baroque and Rococo styles, known for his dynamic compositions and rich decorative sensibility. He was one of the founding members of the prestigious Accademia Clementina in Bologna, cementing his influence on the artistic culture of the city. Burrini was notably a rival and competitor of the celebrated Venetian painter Sebastiano Ricci.
