Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as Sodoma, was an Italian Renaissance painter born in Vercelli who spent much of his career in Siena and Rome. A pupil of Leonardo da Vinci's circle, he became one of the most prominent painters in Siena, celebrated for his graceful, emotionally expressive religious and mythological compositions. His works, including celebrated frescoes at the Villa Farnesina in Rome and the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, demonstrate a masterful blend of Lombard and Florentine Renaissance influences.
