Gerard Petrus Fieret (1924, 2009) was a Dutch photographer and poet known for his raw, obsessive self-portraits and intimate photographs of women, often printed with heavy grain, blur, and chemical distortions that gave his work a visceral, expressionistic quality. Working largely in obscurity for much of his life in The Hague, he stamped his photographs compulsively with copyright notices and personal inscriptions, treating each print as a unique, handmade object. His work gained significant international recognition posthumously, celebrated for its outsider energy and its position at the intersection of photography, performance, and personal mythology.
