Gerard Hoet (1648, 1733) was a Dutch Golden Age painter renowned for his biblical, mythological, and allegorical scenes, often featuring elegant figures in classical settings. He studied under his father and later under Wallerant Vaillant, developing a refined style that earned him commissions from European courts and noble patrons. Hoet was also a celebrated art teacher and co-authored an important early auction catalogue, 'Catalogus of Naamlyst van Schilderyen,' a foundational reference for Dutch art history.
