Eugène Zak was a Polish painter born in 1884 who studied in Paris and became closely associated with the School of Paris movement. Known for his melancholic figurative compositions, he depicted elongated, introspective figures influenced by Italian Renaissance masters and his contemporaries such as Modigliani. He exhibited widely in Europe and gained recognition before his premature death in Paris in 1926.
