David Goldblatt was a documentary photographer whose black-and-white images chronicled South African life during and after apartheid, focusing on architecture, landscapes, and ordinary people. His series 'Structures of Dominion' examined buildings and spaces that enforced racial segregation. He was the first South African to have a solo exhibition at MoMA, and his work is held at the Tate, V&A, and Yale University Art Gallery.
