Charles Avery is a Scottish conceptual artist best known for his long-term project 'The Islanders,' an ongoing fictional world populated by imaginary inhabitants, creatures, and philosophies, which he documents through drawings, paintings, sculpture, and text. His intricate, highly detailed works blend elements of mythology, philosophy, and narrative fiction to create an immersive alternative universe that questions the nature of reality and belief. Avery has exhibited internationally and is regarded as one of the most ambitious world-building conceptual artists of his generation.
