Carsten Nicolai

Carsten Nicolai is a German artist and musician who works at the intersection of art, music, and science, exploring the perception of sound and light phenomena. Under his musical moniker Alva Noto, he creates minimalist electronic compositions that parallel his visual work investigating grid structures, error patterns, and mathematical principles. His installations have been exhibited at major institutions including the Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, and he represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 2001.
