Carlos Garaicoa

Carlos Garaicoa is a highly influential Cuban contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores architecture, urban decay, utopian ideals, and the transformation of cities, particularly Havana. Working across photography, sculpture, installation, drawing, and video, he critically examines the relationship between architecture and social memory, often creating miniature architectural models and text-based works that reflect on failed modernist projects and political promises. His work has been featured at the Venice Biennale, Documenta, and major museums including Tate Modern and the Guggenheim, establishing him as one of the most important voices in contemporary Latin American art.
