Bernardo Strozzi was an Italian Baroque painter and Catholic priest born in Genoa, who became one of the most important artists of the early 17th century. Known as 'Il Cappuccino' due to his time as a Capuchin friar, he developed a rich, expressive style influenced by Rubens, Van Dyck, and the Venetian masters. His works include religious subjects, allegories, and portraits characterized by vibrant color and loose, confident brushwork.
