Giovanni Angelo Canini was an Italian Baroque painter and draughtsman active in Rome during the seventeenth century, known for his work in fresco and his studies of classical antiquity. He was a pupil of Domenichino and Giovanni Lanfranco, absorbing the classical tradition of the Roman Baroque school. Works attributed to him often reflect his deep engagement with mythological and religious subjects rendered in a refined academic style.
