André Maire (1898, 1984) was a French painter and illustrator celebrated for his evocative depictions of Asia, particularly Indochina, Cambodia, and the Far East, which he documented through extensive travels. His luminous watercolors and oils capture the landscapes, temples, and people of Southeast Asia with a poetic sensitivity that earned him widespread recognition, including the Grand Prix de Rome. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français and received numerous official commissions throughout his career.
