Anders Leonard Zorn (1860, 1920) was a Swedish master painter, etcher, and sculptor widely regarded as one of the greatest Scandinavian artists of the 19th century. Celebrated for his virtuosic handling of light and water, he became internationally renowned through his luminous depictions of nude figures bathing in Nordic landscapes, intimate portraits, and scenes of Swedish peasant life. His portraits of American presidents and Gilded Age socialites brought him transatlantic fame, while his etchings are considered among the finest of the modern era.
