Volpi was a self-taught painter known for geometric compositions featuring Brazilian flags, facades, and festive bunting. His tempera paintings bridge figuration and abstraction with a distinctive folk-modernist style. He won the São Paulo Biennale painting prize in 1953 and his work is held by Pinacoteca de São Paulo and Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo.
