Adolphe Félix Cals (1810, 1880) was a French Realist painter known for his intimate depictions of peasant life, domestic interiors, and landscapes in Normandy. A self-taught artist who struggled financially for much of his career, he found patronage and friendship through collector comte Doria, which allowed him to settle in Honfleur where he produced his most celebrated works. He exhibited with the Impressionists in their first group exhibition of 1874, bridging Realism and the emerging Impressionist movement.
