Michael Mazur (1935, 2009) was an American painter and printmaker celebrated for his expressive, psychologically charged works that bridged abstraction and figuration. He studied at Amherst College and Yale School of Art, and became widely recognized for his monotype series and his illustrations for Dante's Inferno. His work is held in major museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
