Jonathan Monk

Jonathan Monk is a British conceptual artist born in 1969 in Leicester, England, whose practice is deeply engaged with appropriation, institutional critique, and the re-examination of Conceptual and Minimalist art history. Working across installation, photography, video, sculpture, and text, he playfully subverts the gestures of artists such as Sol LeWitt, Lawrence Weiner, and Ed Ruscha, introducing personal, humorous, or absurdist elements that expose the conventions and mythologies of the art world.
