In this work, Roy Lichtenstein reimagines Monet's iconic Water Lilies through his signature Pop Art lens, rendering floating lily pads in bold, graphic forms against a shimmering, swirled stainless steel surface. The screenprinted enamel in vivid blues creates a striking tension between the organic subject matter and the industrial metallic ground, while Lichtenstein's use of his characteristic Ben-Day dot-inspired aesthetic reduces the impressionistic source material to clean, flattened shapes. The artist's hand-painted and routered relief wood frame further integrates the work as a unified object, blurring the boundary between painting and sculptural construction.
