10 Columns (Installation Photos)

2024

10 Columns is a large scale light installation composed of illuminated rectangular forms arranged in a gallery space, their surfaces glowing with programmed color sequences that shift and evolve over time. Smith orchestrates a choreography of light and hue across the vertical planes, creating a spatial experience where perception itself becomes the medium. The work transforms the architectural environment through luminous intervention, inviting viewers to witness how color and light fundamentally alter our experience of form, volume, and time. Each column functions as an independent element within a larger compositional system, their collective presence generating a meditative environment of pure optical phenomena. The installation exemplifies Smith's practice of using technology and light to reveal the invisible forces that shape perception.
