black mirror on canvas on board, in 2 parts
2010
Two large mirrored black panels face the viewer, their dark reflective surfaces simultaneously absorbing and returning the surrounding space in fragmented, ghostly glimpses. Installed in two parts, the work plays with perception and presence, drawing the viewer into an uncertain relationship between their own reflection and the work's near-invisible depths. Hodges collapses the boundary between painting, sculpture, and performance, turning the act of looking into a choreographed, embodied experience.

- “I love spatial relationships and dimensionality. I’m interested in theatrical moments and choreographing experiences in space. I think as a drawer and make as a sculptor.”
