Uta Barth's *Ground #56* is a chromogenic print mounted on masonite panel that investigates the nature of perception and visual attention by rendering the background as the sole subject of the image. Soft, defocused light and indistinct forms dissolve into an atmospheric field of color, deliberately denying the viewer a clear focal point. The work challenges conventional photographic representation, inviting contemplation of the overlooked periphery of everyday vision.
