Zhan Wang is a leading contemporary Chinese sculptor best known for his 'Artificial Rocks' series, in which he crafts stainless steel sculptures that mirror the form of traditional Chinese scholar's rocks (gongshi), blending ancient cultural traditions with modern industrial materials. His work explores tensions between nature and artifice, tradition and modernity, and the global flow of materials and culture. Widely exhibited internationally, he is considered one of the most significant sculptors to emerge from China in the post-1989 generation.
