William Bradford (1827, 1892) was an American painter and photographer celebrated for his dramatic depictions of Arctic landscapes and icebergs, which he documented during multiple expeditions to the Arctic regions of Labrador and Greenland. His large-scale canvases combined meticulous naturalism with sublime romanticism, capturing the awe-inspiring beauty of polar ice and light. Bradford's work gained international recognition and he published the celebrated volume 'The Arctic Regions' in 1873, illustrated with photographs taken during his voyages.
