Virginie Élodie Demont-Breton (1859, 1935) was a French Naturalist painter best known for her depictions of coastal life in northern France, particularly scenes of fisherfolk, mothers, and children along the beaches of Pas-de-Calais. Daughter of painter Jules Breton, she became the first woman to be elected president of the Société des Artistes Français in 1894. Her works were celebrated at the Paris Salon and earned her numerous medals and the Legion of Honor.
