Takis (1925, 2019) was a pioneering Greek sculptor and kinetic artist renowned for his innovative use of electromagnetic forces, light, and sound in his work. He is best known for his 'Télésculptures' and 'Signals', tall, flexible metal rods topped with found objects that sway and vibrate, as well as his magnetic sculptures that suspend objects in mid-air, exploring the invisible forces of nature. A largely self-taught artist who moved to Paris in 1954, Takis became a central figure in the kinetic and new media art movements, influencing generations of artists with his fusion of science, technology, and aesthetics.
