Shen Yinmo (1883, 1971) was one of the most celebrated Chinese calligraphers of the 20th century, renowned for his mastery of kaishu (regular script) and his ability to synthesize classical Tang dynasty traditions with a refined personal aesthetic. A prominent cultural figure, he was also a poet, educator, and early member of the Chinese Communist Party, holding prestigious positions at Peking University and later the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting. His couplets in kaishu are highly sought after at auction for their structural precision, rhythmic balance, and scholarly elegance.
