Robert Overby (1935, 1993) was an American artist known for his unconventional use of materials, particularly latex rubber, which he used to create casts of architectural surfaces such as walls, doors, and windows. Working primarily in the late 1960s and 1970s, he produced works that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and conceptual art, often capturing the texture and history embedded in everyday surfaces. Though largely overlooked during his lifetime, Overby has received significant posthumous recognition through major auction sales and institutional exhibitions.
