Richard Hunt (born 1935) is a pioneering American sculptor based in Chicago, widely recognized as one of the foremost African American artists in the history of sculpture. Known for his dynamic welded metal works that blend abstract expressionism with figurative elements, Hunt creates forms that suggest organic growth, movement, and transformation using steel, bronze, and aluminum. His prolific public art installations can be found across the United States, and he was the first Black artist to have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
