Pavlo Makov is a Ukrainian artist born in 1958 in Saint Petersburg (then Leningrad), who has worked primarily in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and is known for his conceptually rich graphic works, installations, and drawings. His practice often explores themes of memory, time, utopia, and the human condition, employing meticulous printmaking and drawing techniques with a deeply literary and philosophical sensibility. He gained significant international attention when he represented Ukraine at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022 with his installation 'The Fountain of Exhaustion. Aqua Alta,' becoming a symbol of Ukrainian cultural resilience during the Russian invasion.
