Nikolay Koshelev (1840, 1918) was a Russian academic painter known for his religious and historical compositions, as well as genre scenes depicting Russian peasant life. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg and became recognized for his decorative church murals and icon paintings across Russia. His work is representative of the Russian Academic tradition of the nineteenth century, blending classical technique with deeply spiritual and nationalistic themes.
