Michael Craig-Martin is a British-Irish conceptual artist born in 1941, widely regarded as a pivotal figure in British contemporary art and a key mentor to the Young British Artists at Goldsmiths College. He is best known for his bold, flat-colour depictions of everyday objects rendered in thick black outlines, as well as his seminal 1973 conceptual work 'An Oak Tree'. His work explores the relationship between objects, language, and perception, and has been exhibited internationally with strong auction results at Christie's, Sotheby's, and Phillips.
