Markus Schinwald

Markus Schinwald creates unsettling films, photographs, and altered vintage paintings that explore psychological dysfunction and physical constraint through prosthetic devices and theatrical staging. His work often features Victorian-era imagery manipulated with surreal interventions. He represented Austria at the 2011 Venice Biennale and his work is in collections including Tate and Centre Pompidou.
