Lothar Charoux (1912, 1987) was a Brazilian-Austrian artist and a founding member of the influential Grupo Ruptura, established in São Paulo in 1952, which championed concrete art in Brazil. His work is characterized by precise geometric abstraction, exploring rhythm, movement, and spatial tension through carefully ordered lines and forms. Charoux is regarded as a pivotal figure in the development of Brazilian Concretism, bridging European rationalist aesthetics with a distinctly Brazilian modernist sensibility.
