Joos de Momper the Younger was a prominent Flemish landscape painter born in Antwerp in 1564, celebrated for his sweeping, panoramic mountain and river landscapes rendered in a distinctive palette of browns, greens, and blues. He served as dean of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke and frequently collaborated with figure painters such as Jan Brueghel the Elder to populate his scenes. His works bridged the Mannerist tradition and the emerging naturalistic landscape style of the 17th century, making him one of the most prolific and influential landscape painters of his era.
