John Dugdale is an American fine art photographer known for his evocative cyanotype and platinum-palladium prints that evoke a sense of timelessness and Victorian-era nostalgia. After losing most of his sight following a stroke in 1993 caused by a CMV retinal infection related to AIDS, Dugdale adapted his practice to work with large-format cameras and antique 19th-century photographic processes, creating luminous, deeply personal imagery often depicting domestic interiors, the male figure, and meditations on memory, loss, and spirituality. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major museum collections, making him a significant figure in both fine art photography and LGBTQ+ artistic heritage.
