Johannes Jakob Frey

Johannes Jakob Frey (1813, 1865) was a Swiss-born painter celebrated for his luminous depictions of the Italian landscape, particularly scenes around Rome, Naples, and the Campagna. He studied in Basel and Munich before settling in Rome, where he became a prominent figure in the German-Italian artistic community and gained recognition for his plein-air approach.
