Jean Gorin (1899, 1981) was a French abstract artist and sculptor who became one of the foremost proponents of Neo-Plasticism outside of the Netherlands, deeply influenced by Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg. He translated the principles of De Stijl into three-dimensional constructions and reliefs, applying strict geometric abstraction to spatial compositions. Gorin was associated with the Abstraction-Création group in the 1930s and remained committed to the utopian ideals of constructivist art throughout his long career.
