Jean-Baptiste II Lemoyne was a prominent French sculptor of the 18th century, celebrated for his expressive portrait busts of French royalty and aristocracy, including Louis XV. A leading figure of the French Rococo, he served as official sculptor to the king and trained many influential pupils, including Falconet, Pigalle, and Houdon. His work is characterized by a vivid psychological realism and elegant dynamism typical of the Rococo style.
