Jan van Mieris (1660, 1690) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and the son of the celebrated Frans van Mieris the Elder, from whom he received his artistic training in Leiden. He specialized in finely detailed genre scenes and portraits in the refined fijnschilder tradition, characterized by smooth brushwork and meticulous attention to surface textures. Though his career was brief, his works appear occasionally at auction and reflect the high technical standards of the Leiden school.
