Irene Rice Pereira

Irene Rice Pereira (1902, 1971) was an American abstract painter and poet known for her pioneering exploration of light, space, and translucency using layered glass, parchment, and canvas. Associated with the American Abstract Artists group, she developed a distinctive geometric abstraction that bridged Constructivism and metaphysical philosophy. Her work is held in major collections including the Whitney Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
