Ibram Lassaw (1913, 2003) was an American abstract sculptor and a pioneering figure in the New York School, known for his intricate, open-form welded metal sculptures that evoke cosmic and organic structures. He was a founding member of the American Abstract Artists group in 1936 and helped champion abstraction in America during a pivotal era. His work, often incorporating bronze, silver, and other metals in lattice-like constructions, bridges abstract expressionism and three-dimensional space exploration.
