Henry François Farny

Henry François Farny (1847, 1916) was an American painter and illustrator renowned for his sympathetic and detailed depictions of Native American life on the Great Plains. Born in Alsace, France, he emigrated to the United States as a child and later studied art in Europe before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio. His works, informed by extensive travels among Indigenous communities, are celebrated for their ethnographic accuracy and romantic sensibility.
