Hassan Massoudy

Hassan Massoudy is an Iraqi-born calligrapher and artist renowned for his dynamic reinvention of Arabic calligraphy, blending traditional script with bold, expressive abstraction and vibrant color. Born in Najaf, Iraq, he moved to Paris in 1969, where he studied fine arts and developed a distinctive style that bridges ancient calligraphic traditions with contemporary visual art. His works, often pairing poetic texts with sweeping gestural forms, have earned him international recognition as one of the foremost practitioners of contemporary Arabic calligraphy.
