Hari Ambadas Gade

Hari Ambadas Gade (1917, 2001) was a pioneering Indian modernist painter associated with the Progressive Artists' Group of Bombay, known for his bold use of color and expressive figurative compositions. He studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Bombay and was deeply influenced by European modernism, particularly Cézanne and Matisse, which he synthesized with Indian sensibilities. His works have appeared at major auction houses including Christie's and Saffronart, reflecting his significant place in the canon of 20th-century Indian art.
