George Copeland Ault (1891, 1948) was an American precisionist painter known for his hauntingly still depictions of urban and rural landscapes, often rendered in sharp geometric forms and dramatic lighting. He spent much of his later life in Woodstock, New York, where he developed a deeply introspective body of night scenes and architectural studies. Ault's work, long overlooked during his lifetime, has gained significant recognition in the art market for its moody, almost surrealist quality within the precisionist tradition.
