Dorothy Dehner

Dorothy Dehner (1901, 1994) was an American sculptor and printmaker known for her abstract bronze and wood constructions that drew on organic and totemic forms. Originally trained as a painter and closely associated with the Abstract Expressionist milieu through her marriage to sculptor David Smith, she did not fully commit to sculpture until her fifties, producing a significant body of work celebrated for its lyrical abstraction.
