Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich (1712, 1774) was a German painter and printmaker known for his remarkable ability to imitate the styles of Old Masters, including Rembrandt, Watteau, and Dutch genre painters. He served as court painter to Augustus III of Saxony and later became director of the porcelain painters at Meissen. Works 'attributed to' him reflect his prolific output and the difficulty in distinguishing his skilled pastiches from the masters he emulated.
