Antonio Saura

Saura was a painter and founding member of the El Paso group known for his aggressive, gestural black-and-white paintings often featuring distorted figures and crucifixions. His work engaged with Spanish painting traditions, particularly Goya and Velázquez, through violent abstraction and expressionist energy. He is represented in the Reina Sofía and major European collections as a key figure in postwar Spanish art.
